Ranks

The Ardent Circle is a fellowship of Knights, based out of Seastone Keep - which is situated on the western shores of the Eastern Kingdoms, between Stranglethorn Vale and the southern end of Westfall. From there, the Circle works to defend Alliance interests, and safeguard the nearby territories from all manner of threats, whether it be the Burning Legion, the Scourge, the vile and treacherous Horde, or any other force that would dare to challenge the Alliance.

We keep the OOC structure, and positions of authority in the order, to a minimum, for the purposes of retaining a sharp focus on the "in character" aspects of our guild. It's important to be clear that the Circle is a fellowship, not a strict military order. We have two councils to guide and govern the order, comprised of veteran members whose characters have achieved the rank of Knight or higher.

The Upper Council is tasked with:

  1. Deciding upon and influencing the direction of the order and its members, and leading the efforts undertaken by the Circle.

  2. Mediating conflict within the Circle, judicating resolutions, and dispensing justice.

  3. Determining the response to any and all summons or tasks levied upon the Circle by the Crown.

The Knight's Council is tasked with:

  1. Deciding upon the permanent exile of a sworn member of the Order, or the dismissal of a Knight from the Council.

  2. Voting upon, and officiating the induction of Fellows, and the promotion of members to Knighthood.

  3. Voting upon the appointment, or removal of Councilors.

Most characters in the guild can achieve the rank of Knight, barring special circumstances.

While we do have a GM and several admins, these are strictly OOCly roles, and all IC behavioral issues are handled by the Councils themselves. This means that yes, for all actions, there are consequences, both positive and negative. Be mindful of your character's choices, for we're keen on maintaining continuity, and we won't excuse outlandish behaviors!

All "salaries" are for IC purposes, and not real gold.

  1. Aspirant: Characters who have interest in joining the Ardent Circle, but have not yet been inducted. (Pays 550 Gold annually.)

  2. Fellow: Characters who have taken their oaths, and been formally inducted. (Pays 600 Gold annually.)

  3. Knight: Fellows who have been promoted, and have been appointed as a sitting member of the Knight’s Council. Responsible for voting on certain matters, like the appointment of new Knights, and Councilors. (Pays 650 Gold annually.)

  4. Knight Champion: Veteran Knights tasked with helping to guide the Council, and direct the Ardent Circle going forward.

    • Must be active and engaged, OOCly.

    • Character is a natural leader, ICly.

    • Takes charge during missions, ICly.

    • Has completed a personal side quest.

    • Has received the personal endorsement of at least three other Council members before consideration for the promotion.

    • (Pays 750 Gold annually.)

  5. Councilor: The leading Knights of the Circle, these special members form a small council to govern the day to day activities and duties of the Circle.

  6. NPC/OOC: Characters that are not intended for RP, or who are NPCs stationed at the Keep, or NPCs relevant to storylines. Not a rank intended for characters who don’t fit the guild’s story (E.G. not  for your serial killer alt who you just want to have around for the fun of it.)

OOC Policies

As the Ardent Circle keeps its focus heavily set on RP, we keep a very loosely framed set of guidelines, namely:

  1. Be respectful at all times to all members, and players, both inside and outside of the guild.

  2. All characters must be level 81 or higher in order to access the Lion’s Landing phase in Krasarang Wilds (Pandaria.)

  3. If you have beef, arguments, or issues with another member, resolve them privately, and do not bring drama or issues into guild chat, or discord. If you need the assistance of another person to help mediate/resolve the issue, seek out any admin, OOCly, to assist.

  4. The OOC/NPC rank is not for characters who simply don’t fit the guild/are not seeking membership.

  5. All members are encouraged to craft and run their own stories/plot lines, but in order to keep things organized, please check in with Vanforth or Livi regarding scheduling if you want to host a large campaign.

  6. Regarding secrets, double agents, and other potentially turbulent story elements:

    • We are open and willing to embrace storylines revolving around double agents, spies, enemies in disguise, etc., but there are several ground rules to cover regarding this to ensure a smooth narrative, total cooperation and assistance, and also to prevent any confusion or tension OOCly.

      • If you plan to/would like to run a story, or play a character, who serves as a double agent ICly, it needs to be run through Livi OOCly. It will be kept exclusively under wraps and not revealed to anyone in the guild, but it is essential that we have a base line of communication, especially if you want to keep the character around after the reveal.

We've had issues with players not fully realizing what they were getting into, and we just want to make sure all the cards are on the table and that there is understanding!

      • Serving as a Spy/Double Agent with the express OOC purpose of dismantling, or causing damage to the guild, is not acceptable.

      • If you intend to build a web of secrets around your character, you're wholly entitled to that ICly, but keep in mind that they are responsible for their actions, and will suffer any appropriate consequences.

      • Players are not their characters. If we remove one of your characters from the guild ICly, you are welcome back on another character, unless otherwise stated. (e.g., if your character ends up fighting with another member, and is dismissed from the Order, you can bring in an alt with no issue.)
